From Saturday 24th to Thursday 29th October, Almería will host the International Congress on the Figure of Joseph Ratzinger. A Pope for the History of the Church and the World.
The programme includes: a youth prayer vigil, Fauré’s Requiem concert, lectures by international theologians and scholars, Masses, the unveiling of a monument to Benedict XVI, cultural visits and moments of encounter. A Congress to discover the figure of Pope Benedict XVI as a "humble servant of the Lord's vineyard", a man of culture, truth and beauty, organized by: International Ratzinger Foundation, Asociación Providentia, Joseph Ratzinger Chair of the Catholic University of Ávila, and Diocese of Almería.
Programme
The event dedicated to exploring the theological, spiritual and human legacy of Benedict XVI. Under the theme of a "humble servant of the Lord's vineyard", the Congress seeks to present a good and faithful shepherd whose prudence, wisdom and love for the Truth shaped both his pontificate and his thought. As he himself wrote: “The future of the Church will come from those whose roots are deep and who live from the pure fullness of their faith.”

- Saturday 24th: Youth Prayer Vigil at Almería Cathedral.
- Sunday 25th: Concert in honour of Benedict XVI featuring Fauré’s _Requiem Mass_ performed by the Discantus Choir of Murcia.
- Monday 26th: Official opening at MUREC. Lectures on "Benedict XVI, a man for eternity" and "Art and beauty at the service of evangelization". Unveiling of the Monument to the Pope in Nicolás Salmerón Park. Mass presided by Archbishop Emeritus Julián Barrio.
- Tuesday 27th: Talks on "Freedom, the essence of man" and "Jesus of Nazareth. The joy of faith in the Lord". Colloquium on the 20th Anniversary of the Regensburg Address.
- Wednesday 28th: Events in El Ejido and Benahadux: inauguration of a street dedicated to the Pope, institutional visit and lecture by Cardinal Rouco Varela: "Church: mystery, communion and mission".
- Thursday 29th: Lectures on "Living the mystery. The spirit of the liturgy" and "The Christian in the world". Closing Mass presided by Bishop Antonio Gómez Cantero and Closing Dinner.

Del sábado 24 al jueves 29 de octubre, Almería acogerá el Congreso Internacional sobre la figura de Joseph Ratzinger. Un papa para la historia de la Iglesia y del mundo.
El programa incluye: vigilia de oración con jóvenes, concierto del Réquiem de Fauré, conferencias de teólogos y académicos internacionales, Eucaristías, inauguración de un monumento a Benedicto XVI, visitas culturales y momentos de encuentro. Un Congreso para descubrir la figura del Papa Benedicto XVI como "humilde servidor de la viña del Señor", hombre de cultura, verdad y belleza, organizado por: Fundación Internacional Ratzinger, Asociación Providentia, Cátedra Joseph Ratzinger de la Universidad Católica de Ávila y Diócesis de Almería.

El evento dedicado a profundizar en el legado teológico, espiritual y humano de Benedicto XVI. Bajo el lema de "humilde servidor de la viña del Señor", el Congreso busca presentar a un pastor bueno y fiel, cuya prudencia, sabiduría y amor a la Verdad marcaron su pontificado y su pensamiento. Como él mismo escribió: "El futuro de la Iglesia vendrá de quienes tienen raíces profundas y viven de la plenitud pura de su fe".

- Sábado 24: Vigilia de Oración con jóvenes en la Catedral de Almería.
- Domingo 25: Concierto en honor a Benedicto XVI con la Misa de Réquiem de Fauré, a cargo de la Coral Discantus de Murcia.
- Lunes 26: Inauguración oficial en MUREC. Conferencias sobre "Benedicto XVI, un hombre para la eternidad" y "El arte y la belleza al servicio de la evangelización". Inauguración del Monumento al Papa en el Parque Nicolás Salmerón. Eucaristía presidida por Mons. Julián Barrio.
- Martes 27: Conferencias sobre "La libertad, esencia del hombre" y "Jesús de Nazaret. La alegría de la fe en el Señor". Coloquio sobre el 20º Aniversario del Discurso de Ratisbona.
- Miércoles 28: Actos en El Ejido y Benahadux: inauguración de una calle dedicada al Papa, visita institucional y conferencia del Cardenal Rouco Varela: "Iglesia: misterio, comunión y misión".
- Jueves 29: Conferencias sobre "Vivir el misterio. El espíritu de la liturgia" y "El cristiano en el mundo". Eucaristía final presidida por Mons. Antonio Gómez Cantero y Cena de Clausura.
