A screening of the docufilm “Lead, Kindly Light – Story of St. John Henry Newman”, produced by Lumine Studios, was held in Rome at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce on the liturgical memorial of the new Doctor of the Church.

Lumine Studios is a Brazilian film production company founded in 2019, whose catalogue already includes other films and series on the lives of Catholic figures and on the Christian world, aimed at all ages and covering a variety of topics. The studio combines faith and entertainment, making possible high-quality digital content that respects Christian values and can form, educate, inform and entertain.

The event, organized by the International Centre of Newman Friends, preceded two days of celebrations: the Spiritual Family “Das Werk” (L’Opera), which runs the International Centre located in Via di Val Cannuta, organized, as it usually does twice a year – once in Italian and once in English – the “Newman Walk”: an itinerary through Rome visiting places connected to the life and memory of the Saint.

This documentary traces the extraordinary journey of John Henry Newman – English theologian, cardinal, and newly declared Doctor of the Church – who renounced prestige and security to follow the voice of conscience and embrace the Catholic faith.

Filmed on location in England, Ireland, Italy and the United States, the film unveils a man who endured solitude and rejection, yet discovered authentic freedom in fidelity to God.

More than a biography, Lead, Kindly Light is an invitation to clarity in a time of confusion: a call to live with integrity, holding faith and reason together, and to rediscover with Newman that truth may cost us everything, but it remains the only path to true freedom.

"There are those who cannot rest until they find the truth".

As a natural continuation of the docufilm “Lead, Kindly Light – Story of St. John Henry Newman” – which retraces Newman’s journey from prestige and security to conscience, solitude and true freedom – the celebrations continued with an invitation to walk that same journey in person.

“Lead, kindly Light…”
